10 Ways to Evangelize in Your Local and Online Communities

More now than ever, I believe it’s time to share the gospel like never before! Do you sense it? Have you been pausing and pondering how you can share the Good News in your city or on your social media platforms?

Is it waking you up at night or crossing your mind the moment you roll out of bed in the morning? If so, then you are certainly not alone because I’m there with you!

All across the country, we are beginning to see this new wave of revival! It’s so exciting to watch it all unfold before our very eyes.

But even more so, I want to be a part of this amazing move of God! I believe you would like to be used in this hour as well. I’m guessing that’s why you clicked on this article.

As you read it, I pray that it ignites an even greater fire inside of you to share the gospel in your city or sphere of influence online.

Without a doubt, there are so many hungry and thirsty souls right among us who are looking for healing, hope, and help. We know that all of these can be found in a life in Christ.

So, join me for a few minutes as I share 10 Ways to Evangelize in Your Local and Online Communities.

1. Social Media

Without a doubt, there are billions of people on social media platforms today. So, here are a few ways of how to evangelize online. You can share inspirational Bible verses and short-form videos through Instagram reels or YouTube shorts.

If you’re on Twitter, you can tweet a short message, video, or image with a quote or Bible verse. You can encourage, teach, train, and inspire.

Oh, and one more tip! Don’t be afraid to preach, teach, or ask for prayer requests. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations." We are called to share.

2. Share Your Testimony

There is so much power and encouragement when we share our testimonies with people online but also in person. Sharing how you came to the faith can be quite enlightening for someone. This is a great time to also be transparent.

In this case, aim at sharing a part of your story that will be most useful or beneficial for the listener. 1 Peter 3:15 tells us, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” So, share your testimony.

3. Write a Blog

Are you a writer? Do you have a blog, or have you ever thought about starting one? I’m a blogger. I’ve actually been writing my blog since 2011.

Over the years, I’ve discovered that it’s such a great way to not only evangelize but also share messages that God has laid upon my heart to share with readers around the globe.

You can blog about your faith journey, biblical insight, real-life examples from the Bible or your own life, and so much more.

Blogs help people.1 Peter 4:11 says, “Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ.”

4. Podcasting

Ah! A lot of people are on the move, and podcasting is where thousands all over the world listen to grow on the go!

Romans 10:17 tells us, "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." If you have a podcast, take advantage of this great way to evangelize or disciple your listeners.

I have a podcast that’s called, Inside Out with Courtnaye. It’s a solo podcast where I have occasional guests, and we talk about how women can grow in Christian character, calling, and career as we await the return of Christ.

It’s just a great way to share the Word of God with a captive listening audience. Consider launching a podcast or keep yours going to advance the Kingdom of heaven.

5. Street Witnessing

This happens to be one of my personal favorites. I love street witnessing! Here’s how you can do it. Pray and ask God for courage, boldness, and the words to share as it relates to sharing the gospel and your testimony with complete strangers.

Spark up that conversation and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you with every word that needs to be spoken. God already knows where each person is in life.

So go, be strong and courageous, and share what’s already inside of you. Mark 16:15 says, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." You’ve got this! God will go with you!

6. Serve Others/Volunteer

Serving others is an act of love. When you and I willingly serve others, it is showing faith in action. So, if there is an opportunity for you to volunteer or serve in your local church or community center, sign up to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Also, check into your local homeless shelters or relief centers (i.e., tornadoes, hurricanes, natural disasters, etc.) to see how you can be a blessing in the name of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 4:10 encourages, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

7. Bible Study Groups

Have you ever thought about organizing a Bible Study? If you’ve hosted one before or currently hosting, continue to be encouraged and keep it going as the Holy Spirit leads you.

But if you haven’t hosted one yet, consider hosting one in your home, church, community center, local coffee shop, library, or co-working space (sometimes there are meeting rooms). Also, don’t forget to study ahead so you’ll be ready in every way for the attendees.

Scripture tells us in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” This is a great way to evangelize in your local church or community.

8. Community Events

Hosting a community-wide event can be life-changing and life-giving for all who come. And it doesn’t have to be a big event. It could be something as small as hosting a monthly meet-up in your community. You could also host an online community event.

These days with online groups and communities on social media platforms, you can totally go for hosting an online Bible study, topical talk, or networking event with like-minded people who want to learn or grow in their walk with Christ.

Matthew 5:14 reminds us, "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden." It’s time to shine right where you are!

9. Workplace

We can totally live out our faith in the workplace. Jesus calls us to be a light in the midst of darkness. Sure, there are people whom we work with that are totally sold out for Jesus! Amen to that!

But then there are also many others working around us who are not a part of the body of Christ. Could you be the one who leads them to a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ?

Acts 20:24 reminds us, “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”

You never know what transformation can take place over coffee or lunch with a fellow co-worker who is thirsty and hungry for something new and life-changing.

10. Mentor

After you evangelize, discipling others is a close cousin. I love what Jesus tells the early disciples in Matthew 28:20, “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.”

As disciples of Christ, we are also called and commissioned to teach new disciples. We can do this through mentorship. Meeting for a one-on-one conversation to talk about life and God could be a game-changer and encouraging at the same time.

All of these are just a few great ways to evangelize those in your local or online communities. Jesus is calling you and me to share the gospel with those around us in our day and time.

Without a doubt, there is so much going on in our world today, and God is commissioning us right now. So, let’s go forth with boldness and power from the Holy Spirit. We can do this in Christ!
