Instead of being concerned with specific categories of spirits, like marine spirits, the Bible calls us to stand firm against the devil’s schemes. This focus on a real enemy clarifies how we must approach spiritual warfare. 

The Magi clearly expected the people of Jerusalem, or at least some of them, to know that the Messiah had been born, and where he was now. However, in this and in their trust of Herod later in the story, the Magi were mistaken.
