TONIGHT'S SCRIPTURE

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." - Psalm 119:105

SOMETHING TO PONDER

We live in the country—when the sun goes down, it gets dark, pitch black. You do not want to find your way back to the house without a flashlight! It's dangerous! You're uncertain about where you're stepping, fearful even to take a step.

Living life without the Word of God illuminating His plan and assisting us with decision-making feels much like walking in the dark in the country without a flashlight. You're frightened, scared, and feel hopeless. God's Word promises to be a light to our path.

When I think of light, I'm reminded that it brings clarity and helps us take the next step. Sometimes I ignore God's Word, missing the still, small voice that could bring clarity." I remain in the dark, without hope- all because of my own doing. Many times, it becomes a last resort, instead of my first response.

I sometimes choose to stew, worry, or take matters into my own hands. I'm currently in a tough parenting season, navigating things that feel hard, long, and like our days will never get better. I have a choice to make- I can lean into the guidance of God’s Word, and the peace of God can be my portion, or I can continue to walk in darkness, uncertain of my next step.

As parents, we make a thousand decisions a day—some in our sleep, but others require thought, intention, and God's wisdom. It is in those decisions that we need the light of His Word to illuminate our path—to bring clarity, to help us see.

When we allow God to shape our daily habits and conversations, our homes become a place of truth and wisdom. This is not to say that we will always make the right choice or that difficulty and hardships will never come our way; it will equip us to remember to face them with guidance, hope, and confidence in Christ. Our homes can become a beacon of light to a watching world.

The light of His Word, much like a flashlight, helps bring safety to our lives —a safety net in life that I never want to be without. I know you don't either. Tonight, lean into the light of His Word for all the questions running around in your mind, all the places you need Him to intervene on your behalf. He is close, and the path is bright.

YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

Lord,
May your Word be my first resort. When I need clarity, peace, and safety that only you can bring- illuminate the words off the pages of our instruction manual, your Word. May then, your words, be my words. Thank you for being a light on our paths, showing us the way. Let us not operate without it- may we always be in step with you as you lead us.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.

THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE ON

1. Where am I walking in darkness instead of letting God illuminate my path?

2. Which decisions can I bring before Him today?

3. How can my home be a beacon of light to others around me?
