A Prayer to Invite God into Our Daily Lives
By Lynette Kittle

Bible Reading:
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with Me” - Revelation 3:20

Listen or Read Below:

Often, we wait for God to show up and come to us, not considering that He wants us to invite Him into our daily lives. We forget or don’t realize that He’s standing at our door, knocking, asking for it to be opened so that He may come in and spend time with us. Sadly, many of us don’t truly understand that God created us to have a relationship with Him, but instead categorize Him as our 911 rather than our closest friend. He doesn’t want to be our last resort and hope, but rather the first one we turn to each day before anyone else. Every day, He wants us to invite Him into our day, to spend time with us, available to us night and day, not ever too busy or distracted, or requiring us to schedule an appointment with Him.

So, how do we invite God into our daily lives? The following are five ways we can extend an invitation to Him:

1. By longing for God.
What are our hearts yearning for, another vacation, a new car, or new home? What if our hearts long for God? In Psalm 42:2, we read, “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”

Do we ever miss God, or of being in His presence? Isaiah 26:9 describes “My soul yearns for You in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for You. When Your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.”

Who is the first person we think of and turn to at the beginning of each day and the last one before we close our eyes to sleep? Psalm 84:2 describes what it feels like to long for God. “My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.” In longing for God, our hearts will find ways to invite Him in to meet with us.

2. By making time for God.
Even in the midst of full schedules, if there is something we really want to do in life, we will make sure we find time to do it. So it is with God, too, if we really want to spend time with Him, we will find a way. By setting time aside to spend with Him, we are making room for Him, inviting Him to spend time with us.

3. By drawing near to God.
For many, when seeing or hearing a celebrity is nearby, they start to move in their direction, and the closer they get, the more they lean in, just to get nearer, with the hope of meeting them, and the opportunity for it happening grows greater the closer they get in proximity. It’s like that with God, too. When we move nearer to where He is, He moves closer to be near us. James 4:8 describes how, “Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

4. By worshiping God.
When we worship Him, we are inviting Him into our lives, which is what God is seeking from us. As John 4:23 explains, “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”

5. By asking God to come.
When was the last time we invited God to come and spend time with us? Maybe some of us have never invited Him. Psalm 145:18 encourages us to call out to Him, that He is near and that when we call, He will come. “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.”

Let’s Pray:

Dear Father,
We are deeply grateful for Your coming to the doors of our hearts, knocking and calling out to us, wanting us to invite You in to eat and spend time with us. Help us to daily answer Your call and invite You in by longing for You, making time for You, drawing near to You, worshiping You, and, foremost, by asking You to come in and be with us. Soften our hearts to hear and answer Your voice, and to open our doors to let You into our lives. Come, Lord Jesus, come, we pray.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

When war dominates the headlines, parents are left asking an important question: How do we talk to our kids about it? In this episode of March or Die, Jeremy Stalnecker shares practical and biblical principles for guiding young people through confusing and frightening global events.

Drawing from his experience as a Marine who lived through the wars following 9/11, Jeremy explains why moments of global conflict can become powerful opportunities for parents to teach their children about courage, faith, and moral clarity. Rather than avoiding difficult conversations, parents can use them to help their kids understand fear, the reality of evil in the world, and the responsibility we have to stand for what is right.

This conversation explores how parents can alleviate fear, explain why conflict exists, and demonstrate a faith-filled response when the world seems chaotic. Jeremy also discusses the importance of teaching children the difference between necessary and unnecessary violence, why standing against evil matters, and how faith in God provides stability even in uncertain times.
