Continual Conversation of Everything and Nothing

“Pray continually.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
When life sideswipes me, I have instant access to family. My mom, sisters, and I have a group text. I can’t tell you how long it’s been going on. Years, at least. It’s a continual conversation of important dates and situations, funny memes and silly questions, pictures of the grandkids, and Pinterest ideas for upcoming weddings and baby showers.
We discuss everything and nothing. I can leave my phone on the counter, or go to bed, and, chances are, when I return or wake, I’ll have a text waiting. Often, a previous dialogue will continue or some question will be answered.
Our communication with God should resemble a conversation between friends, between the Father and His child, the Teacher and His student. God always has time to listen and converse with us. We’re not separated by phone lines or put on hold. He’s All-Loving and holds unlimited power. We can rest assured when we talk to Him, He’s already set into motion His answer and response.
How can we ignore such a constant, ever present God? There’s never a time when we shouldn’t be conversing with Him; He is the most essential part of each day.
