Lord of Life - Time with God - April 6, 2012

Romans 14:7-9

For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself; for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

Jesus Christ has the right to be the Lord of your life!

‘Lord’ is not just a lovely title for Jesus. It reflects His rightful place in your heart and mind. As Lord, He rules. He doesn’t simply give opinions or advice. His word carries authority. In fact, He said, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.” (Matthew 28:18)

He doesn’t rule by intimidation and fear. He’s a good ruler who rules by love, who’s trustworthy and kind and wants the best for His people. But He is Lord. He’s your friend, but He is Lord. “Therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.”

Jesus lived during His time on earth as a man. He was fully human—suffering, experiencing loneliness, rejection, pain, even ridicule. It’s easy to think that is the sum of what Jesus is like: a real person who can sympathize with us and understand our pain. That He is, but He’s reminding you today that He’s also fully God.

He is Lord!
