"He Is Sufficient - New Life daily devotion - May 28, 2011"

He Is Sufficient
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer.
Psalms 18:2

It is easy to become overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life, but if you’re a faithful follower of the One from Galilee, you need never be overwhelmed. Why? Because God’s love is sufficient to meet your needs. Whatever dangers you may face, whatever heartbreaks you must endure, God is with you, and He stands ready to comfort you and to heal you.

The Psalmist writes, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5 NKJV). But when we are suffering, the morning may seem very far away. It is not. God promises that He is “near to those who have a broken heart” (Psalm 34:18 NKJV).

If you are experiencing the intense pain of a recent loss, or if you are still mourning a loss from long ago, perhaps you are now ready to begin the next stage of your journey with God. If so, be mindful of this fact: the loving heart of God is sufficient to meet any challenge, including yours.

God is always sufficient in perfect proportion to our need.
- Beth Moore

God is, must be, our answer to every question and every cry of need.
- Hannah Whitall Smith

God will call you to obey Him and do whatever He asks of you. However, you do not need to be doing something to feel fulfilled. You are fulfilled completely in a relationship with God. When you are filled with Him, what else do you need?
- Henry Blackaby and Claude King

I grew up learning to be self-reliant, but now, to grow up in Christ, I must unlearn self-reliance and learn self-distrust in light of His all-sufficiency.
- Mary Morrison Suggs

Today’s Prayer

Lord, You have promised never to leave me or forsake me. You are always with me, protecting me and encouraging me. Whatever this day may bring, I thank You for Your love and for Your strength. Let me lean upon You, Father, this day and forever. Amen
