Truth Buckled Tightly
Ephesians 6:11, 14 (NIV®)
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes . . . Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist. . . .
Ephesians 6 includes this famous passage describing the reality of spiritual conflict—it is a battle “against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” We are told that to thrive during evil days we must wear the armor of God. It’s worth noting that the first piece of armor mentioned is the belt of truth. Evil will touch all of our lives, and your spiritual effectiveness will be limited if you don’t have the belt of God’s truth firmly in place. And it’s a personal thing. Each one of us will have to decide whether we will believe God’s truth and wear it as armor as we stand our ground for God in the world.
Heavenly Father, open my eyes. Let me see Your truth. May it be the first thing I reach for when I am faced with scoffing and confusion and hostility and even my own uncertainties. Help me to stand firm, Lord, for I want to represent You well and bring honor to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
