John 14:11-12 (NIV®)
“Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”
If Jesus begins by saying “Believe me,” you know what follows is going to stretch us a bit. And His assertion in this passage is mind-blowing: Those who believe in Him can do the things He had been doing. And what He didn’t say is as important as what He did say. He didn’t say, “Those who believe in me will gather on Sunday mornings in a building and sing songs and listen to a sermon.” He didn’t say, “Those who believe in me will keep the rules better.” He said, “Those who believe in me will do the kind of things I have been doing—even greater things.” Jesus’ legacy wasn’t only about showing us what He could do; it was also about unleashing His power within us to be His hands and feet and voice in the earth.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for believing in me. I open my heart to cooperate with You. Impart Your power in me so I can be used as a voice in the earth for Your purposes. Use me today to encourage someone to look toward You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
