A Life Well-Lived
1 Chronicles 29:26-28 (NIV®)
David son of Jesse was king over all Israel. He ruled over Israel forty years—seven in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem. He died at a good old age, having enjoyed long life, wealth and honor. His son Solomon succeeded him as king.
King David lived in Jerusalem about a thousand years before Christ. One of the archeological debates today is that the enemies of King David, people who don’t want to acknowledge that he lived, worked very hard to destroy any archeological evidence of his kingdom. I often smile about that. His enemies are still afraid of him, and he’s been dead three thousand years. What a testimony about the impact of his days in the earth! If you will cooperate with the purposes of God, you’ll make an impact far beyond your days―not because you live in the center of civilization, or because your skill set is so phenomenal, but because of your affiliation with Almighty God.
Heavenly Father, I long to make an impact for You beyond my days in the earth. I pray for a willing spirit that I may daily yield my plans to Yours. Make my path plain, Lord, and Your purposes clear to me that I might honor You with my days. In the wonderful name of Jesus, amen.
