Time with God - May 6, 2014

Romans 8:5-7

For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so.

Your mind is one of the most important factors in your spiritual growth!

I do not mean you must have great intelligence to grow spiritually. I mean that you must be careful what you put into your mind and what you allow to go around in your mind.

“The mind set on the flesh is death.”What in your life focuses your mind on things that would offend the pure heart of God? Things you read? Things you watch? Things you listen to? This passage tells us that if you continue to set your mind on those things, you are committing spiritual suicide. It is impossible for you to walk with God while filling your mind with the world.

You can have one or the other, but not both. One is death and hostility; the other is life and peace. The Lord is inviting you today to walk with Him and put those other things out of your life.
