John 8:28-29

“So, Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me. And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

If you want God to work through you in the lives of the people around you, always act on his leading in your life!

Jesus modelled this lifestyle for us. He tells us that he didn’t act on his own authority, but acted and spoke as the Father led him. But what was the secret to his sensitivity to the Father’s leading? How did he know what the Father wanted to say and do through him in various circumstances? He clearly spells out the secret: “I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

You long to live this kind of life where God is leading you moment by moment, showing you what he wants you to do and say in the lives of those around you. Learn from Jesus that God will get involved in your life like that when he sees in your heart, as he did in Jesus’ heart, that whatever he prompts you to say or do, you will “always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

Write down one thing that you sense God is prompting you to act on in a way that’s “pleasing to him”.  How are you going to take action on it this week?
