Time with God - May 18

Living a godly life is not just about scraping by, but about experiencing an abundance of peace, joy, and fulfillment when God becomes your delight. By trusting in Him and living out His purposes, believers can discover that true wealth lies not in material riches, but in the blessings and trust that come from a relationship with their Creator.

Psalm 37:3-4,10-11,16

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart…In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace. Better is the little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked.”

Living a godly life is great!

The kind of life described here is much more wonderful than simply being able to scrape through. It’s a life of “abundance”. It’s a life that has way more than enough. Even though the righteous person is described here as having “little” in the world’s eyes, that “little” is more than enough when God is blessing your life!

When God himself becomes your “delight”, then your desires are fulfilled in your daily walk with him. God may or may not cause a godly person to also be wealthy; but to that person, wealth is not what satisfies. Rather, they’re satisfied with God, and wealth becomes something God has entrusted to them to use for his purposes on earth.

The life that’s sold out to God may be something you fear, but God wants you to step out in faith and choose that life. Then you’ll overflow, not with fear, but joy!
