Time with God - February 9

A former blasphemer finds redemption through the mercy of Christ Jesus, who came to save sinners, including himself, and offers an abundance of grace to those who acknowledge their offense against God. By recognizing the weight of guilt that separates us from God, we can find solace in the overwhelming grace of our Lord, which overflows with faith and love.

1 Timothy 1:13-15

“…though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.”

God has enough grace for you!

Look what John 1:16-17 says: “For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ”. Romans 5:20 tells us: “But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.”

It’s good to recognize that you’ve offended God in two ways: you’ve offended him personally, and you’ve offended his justice. Your words offended him when you’ve told lies, taken his name in vain, or spoken harshly to someone. Your attitude offended him when you harbored anger, bitterness, or hatred. Your thoughts offended him when you pursued sensuality or evil.

It’s good and healthy to realize the weight of guilt that stands between me and God. But no matter how big the mountain of sin in my life is, the mountain of God’s grace is bigger!

His grace is “overflowed” for you. Turn to him now and you’ll find, not condemnation, but grace!
