Comfort a child in foster care with a suitcase, teddy bear, and a Bible

Time with God - December 2, 2016

1 Peter 3:15-16

“But in your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behaviour in Christ may be put to shame.”

Your obedience to God gives power to the gospel in the lives of those who know you!

This week I shared Christ with someone on an airplane. As I shared, she spoke with a warm heart about some other real Christians she knew. Their Christian lives had left her heart open for my witness. Other times I have shared Christ with people and they have antagonistically referred to “Christians” they knew who were pure hypocrites. Those Christians’ lives had closed the door of these people’s hearts to my witness.

Remember that your spiritual choices are always about a much bigger picture than your own relationship with God. Yes, your relationship with God is affected. But people around you will see the reality or the façade of your walk with God and that will affect their response to Christ one day.

God wants you to realise today that the impact of your spiritual choices is always much bigger than you are aware of at the time. The best way to live: simply obey God.

Write down below the three areas where your behaviour most needs to grow to be more Christ-like:
