God’s deep desire for you to be his child

March 28, 2011

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

It’s an unfortunate reality that there are some things parents have to worry about today that they didn’t have to when I was little. And as I hear parents today instructing their kids on safety, one lesson that’s almost always taught is ‘Stranger Danger’.

Now why do parents teach kids to avoid strangers today? Well, it’s because they don’t know whether any given stranger is good or bad, and there is a great amount of uncertainty about them.

The Bible says that apart from Jesus Christ, you and I are strangers to God and we’ve lost our way. But unlike the dangerous strangers that parents teach kids to avoid, it’s us who have alienated ourselves from God!

Now contrary to popular opinion, you don’t come to Christ. You’re not saved any old time you choose to be saved. This is a work of the Spirit of God, who brings you to that moment in your life when you hear the message of Jesus Christ, you respond in faith, and that alienation is dissolved as you are adopted into his family.

It’s God’s will today, right now, that you be saved. And Jesus died on the cross so that you might go to heaven. So if you’ve never placed your faith in Christ, he wants you to do that today!

GOD WANTS ALL PEOPLE TO COME TO HIM, BUT MUST DO A SUPERNATURAL WORK IN EACH PERSON WHO DOES. SO AS THE SPIRIT OF GOD WORKS IN YOU, PLACE YOUR FAITH FULLY IN CHRIST FOR YOUR SALVATION!
