Moments with You Couples Devotional 11/8

Back on Line

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another that you may be healed. JAMES 5:16

Every time couples get together for one of our Weekend to Remember conferences, the Lord does something special . . . and almost always leaves us with stories like this one:

I had been leading an online extramarital affair with someone from college for almost three years. My husband had no idea. But one night I
told him I didn't love him anymore and that I was finished. I was numb inside and felt very much alone. I just wanted out. We began to seek help from our church counseling ministry, and although I went, I was still living a lie.

One day my husband came home excited that he had won a registration to a Weekend to Remember conference. I didn't want to go. If I went, it meant pretending that I wanted to work on my marriage. But through the weekend, I began to feel a softening in my heart for my marriage and the husband God had gifted me with.

It wasn't until six months later that all the deception was on the table and my sin was out. I felt so released from my bondage and free to truly love my husband as God intended. So we are working through the hurt of my affair and through all the other issues that brought us to that point in our marriage. We are on the road to recovery. I believe that with the blessing of your conference last winter, my marriage took a U-turn.

I want to thank you so much for the hard work you do and for the love you have for hurting marriages. We are attending the conference again this November. And this time I am so excited!

So are we.

When was the last time you got away with your spouse for a weekend? Take a look at your calendar and discuss a weekend getaway like this. It may be time for a 12,000 mile, 12-month wheel alignment.

Bring to God any outstanding balance (unreconciled issues) in your relationship today, and let Him get to work reconciling the differences.
