Sermon: 1692 How to Pray for Our Daily Bread, Part 1
Pray Over This
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Ponder This
There’s one place God will not work and that is second place. The Bible says in all things He must have preeminence. God does not want a place in your life; God doesn’t want prominence in your life: God demands preeminence. Seek what? First! Seek the kingdom of God first.
When you come to God in prayer, ask, “Dear God, is the burning, consuming desire of my heart that Your name would be glorified? Is the burning, consuming desire of my heart that Your Kingdom will come? Is the burning, consuming desire of my heart that Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven?” We often bring other requests to Him before we have even checked the state of our hearts to see where we are in line with Him or off base and consumed by our own selfish agendas.
You can’t say something won’t work if you’ve not tried it. Don’t tell me that Matthew 6:33 is but a vain promise if you’ve not put it into practice.
- What place does God have in your life? What areas need to be shaped by Him?
- How can you seek to live out the instruction of Matthew 6:33 daily?
Practice This
Consider any areas of life you still have not surrendered to God. Tell a friend and ask him or her to support you with accountability and prayer.
