Examining Your Past
By: Rick Boxx
November 25, 2013

My friend, Dan, has been going through a career transition. He sold his business and now is trying to determine what he wants to do next.

As we discussed his situation, I encouraged Dan to reflect carefully on his past. Dwelling on past jobs can reveal our strengths and, other times, our weaknesses.

Examining the joyful and fruitful parts of our past can highlight strengths and gifts that should be in our future positions. Reflecting on our past can also remind us of what to avoid.

Ephesians 2:10 teaches, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

God has already prepared you for your future. Carefully examining your past will identify some keys to your future.
