How to connect with others on a deeper level

March 9

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. - >James 5:16

In the mid-1960s, Bill Russell was the star basketball center for the world-champion Boston Celtics. Russell was dominant on the court, and with almost effortless ease he took charge of the team once the game began. The whole team revolved around him.

One day in a radio interview, Russell was asked if he ever got nervous before a game. Answering honestly, he responded, “Absolutely. Before every game, I vomit.”

The reporter then asked, “What happens if you play two games in the same day?”

Russell responded, “I vomit twice.”

There’s something about seeing a person’s weakness that instantly makes us feel closer to them. That’s because when we stop seeing them as larger than life and instead see them as people just like us, we can connect with them on a deeper level.

Many believers are hesitant to share their weaknesses with others. But when we open up and are honest about our shortcomings, we’re able to connect with others and the doors to ministry are flung wide open.

Don’t feel like you have to portray a squeaky-clean image to the world around you. Be honest where you fall short and you’ll connect with others on a deeper level!

Prayer Challenge

Pray and ask God to help you open your heart and reveal your shortcomings to others.
