Born for It - Week of Dec. 27

You Are Approved by God
By Twyla Betha

Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation
Romans 10:9-10, Amplified Bible

Many people ask, “Does God accept me?” “Does God approve of me after all I’ve done?” I want you to rest assured that once you are saved, meaning born again, God approves of you and accepts you! No matter what you’ve done, there is nothing so bad that the blood of Jesus can’t cleanse and wash away.

As today’s passage tells us, if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus as your Savior, you are accepted! You don’t have to beg, or ask 10 times for Him to accept you.

So don’t give yourself more requirements than you can meet to earn God’s approval. God doesn’t accept you because of what you’ve done or not done. You can only receive His approval through faith in the blood of Jesus and what He did on the cross. In actuality, you can’t even earn God’s approval through good works, even though good works are a result of what you do because He’s been good to you.

Now, along the way you may make mistakes. Just remember that it is through Jesus that you are accepted. And remember, when you make a mistake, you must repent, which is acknowledging wrong and allow the Love and grace begin to work in your life. Then you can live free, with no condemnation, moving forward knowing you approved of God just as if the mistakes never happened!
