Put on Your Armor - Beloved Women - May 1, 2023
READ: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6: 10 - 12 NIV)
TODAY'S ENCOURAGEMENT: Would you ever leave your house without clothing? The obvious answer is, “Of course not!” Physical clothing is not an optional item. This, however, is not always the case with spiritual clothing. There have been many times I left my house without dressing spiritually. This left me exposed and vulnerable to whatever obstacles I faced in my day.
Ephesians 6 encourages us to put on the whole armor of God so we can protect ourselves against the devil’s schemes. If we are going to live a victorious life as a believer we must dress ourselves spiritually with truth, righteousness, the word of God, faith, and our salvation.
A choice to forgo this advice is the equivalent of going to battle without armor and a weapon. This life can be difficult and filled with blindsides we don’t see coming. Thus, spiritual clothing is non-negotiable for every believer. We must be intentional each day about putting on our spiritual armor.
PRAY: Dear God, Thank you for teaching us to put on the full armor of God in your word. Help me to carve out time to each day to put on my armor.
REFLECT: What does it mean to put on the full armor of God? If you did this consistently how might it change your life?
