YOUNGER

Read: 1 Timothy 4

Key Verse: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” - 1 Timothy 4:12

What is your attitude toward people who are younger than you or less mature in the faith? Do you inwardly underestimate them? Are your expectations low and views inaccurate of the next generation? Sadly, more years on the earth or additional time walking with Jesus can lead some people to swell with pride. They would not admit it, but it is written all over their tone, attitude, and facial expressions. If you harbor these sentiments, it is time to repent.

If you are surrounded by people who are older than you, do not be intimidated! Paul was writing to encourage Timothy. He held a significant leadership position at an early age in life. God might open the doors for you before you feel ready or experienced. Rely on God, know He is sufficient, and ask the Holy Spirit to help with your weaknesses. If you follow Jesus closely, it will show in the way you communicate, interact, maintain purity, and have a pure trust. You will be setting the example and leading through your sincere faith!
