Read: Nahum 3

Key Verse: “Nothing can heal your wound; your injury is fatal. Everyone who hears the news about you claps his hands at your fall, for who has not felt your endless cruelty?” - Nahum 3:19

Jonah preached in Nineveh and the 120,000 people repented and turned to the Lord. Sadly, the people returned to their cruel ways, wickedness, and brutality. Nahum is addressing their rebellion and bringing a message of truth. Their extreme ways continued until the Lord brought an end to the city in 612 BC.

Ninevehwas destroyed and never rebuilt. Hundreds of years later the area was covered with sand as the prophecy of Nahum was fulfilled by the Lord.

God is gracious and wants everyone to know Him. Many people, however, refuse to walk with the Lord. In their pride, the people of Nineveh were viciously brutal and God judged them. There is One God and He has authority to raise up and to discipline. He is patient and gracious, but there also comes a point where He will not be mocked. Take time to repent today. Pray for your city, nation, and any people who have had a hard heart towards God. Ask God for mercy and warn people where you need to do that in love.
