Read: Song Of Songs 1

Key Verse: “How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves.” Song Of Songs 1:15

The name Song Of Songs means greatest of songs. This is a unique book in the Bible, written in a poetic and romantic conversation between lover and beloved. Solomon is referred to seven times and many additional mentions of ‘the king’. Primarily describing the love between a man and woman, there is also an allegorical meaning between God and His people. There are a wealth of relational and theological insights in the eight chapters.

In a healthy marriage, there are many words of affirmation. The man is taking the initiative to notice, show interest, compliment, and appreciate his beloved. Beauty is far more than physical appearance: an inner beauty surpasses external features. If you are married, are you making consistent and truthful positive remarks about your spouse? In what passages of Scripture does God affirm you? Why is affirmation so important? Who can you build up today?
