Read: Psalm 129

Key Verse: “They have greatly oppressed me from my youth, but they have not gained the victory over me.” - Psalm 129:2

The Israelites experienced persecution in many forms. Some nations tried to eliminate their existence and other countries attempted to hold them in bondage. The psalmist is acknowledging the oppression, but there is a tone of prevailing hope and strength because of God. Has anyone mistreated you in your youth? Has someone tried to inflict harm or limit your potential? How has your faith helped you overcome these challenges?

The victory is yours through Jesus. These truths cannot be taken from you: God is with you, Jesus died for you, and the Holy Spirit empowers you. Real victory includes hope, making the most of your opportunities, helping other people, and resting in the promise of heaven. God breaks the chains of sin and oppression. What powerful healing and freedom has God enabled you to experience?
