QUICKLY

Read: Psalm 70

Key Verse:Yet I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay.” - Psalm 70:5

God does work gradually at times. He knows both the process and the end results are significant. In the patient waiting, our character is formed, our faith is tested, and our trust can grow. There is value in relying on God in sustained ways over long periods of time. His steady hand and detailed plans are often seen most clearly in the rearview mirror.

My prayers, however, usually resemble this psalm. Can you relate? Come quickly and do not delay are David’s plea. Notice that David admits his need, affirms God’s awesome might, and gives God the credit for the victories. When you approach God with a sense of urgency, maintain reverence in your desperation. Pour out your heart and cry out with confidence because your God is able. Be patient when he asks you to slow down, but appeal to Him when everything is on the line and there is no time for waiting.
