IN THE DARKNESS

Read: Psalm 88

Key Verse: “You have taken my companions and loved ones from me; the darkness is my closest friend.” - Psalm 88:18

What has been the loneliest time of your life? Surrounded by pain and forsaken by friends? Misunderstood, judged, attacked, disappointed, or despised?

Mourning, failing, or feeling trapped? There are times when darkness surrounds, and the psalmist writes it appears to be your closest friend.

The psalmist gives us the example of how to respond in those bleak moments. Begin by declaring that God saves. Cry out to God day and night. Acknowledge your areas of weakness and need for help. Remember the Lord’s love and faithfulness. If nothing changes in your situation, wait on the Lord and continue to seek Him. His light is coming, and if you hold on to Him, you will shine again.
