God’s Holy Word
December 11, 2013
The Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:15 – “Bediligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
One of the most common complaints of people today is, “I cannot understand the Bible! How can I ever know what it is talking about?” We would all feel the same way, probably, if we tried to understand a book of medicine or science by reading hit-or-miss infrequently. The Bible is God’s love letter to you and me. It contains the answers for all our problems concerning how to be saved or what being born again means. Problems in the Christian life, how to have harmony in the home, success in business, and even answers to political problems and our nations social ills.
Because it contains stories, this does not mean that we always have to read it from beginning to end. You may choose to do that, but you do not have to read God’s Word that way. Especially if you are a new Christian or a long time Christian who never really had someone show you how to read and study God’s Word. Let me encourage you to learn where to find the portions of scripture that will minister to you at the point of need you are experiencing in this season of your life. You will find that beginning there will lead you into many other portions of God’s Holy Word. There is no shortcut to understanding the Bible. You must spend time alone in God’s Word, reading, praying and listening to His still small voice. This will help you daily and prepare you for the future.
