Readiness - God's Love at Work - Week of August 24

Readiness

By Margaret D. Mitchell
Week of August 24, 2025

On a recent Sunday evening, The Lord showed me the Words “Finish line” and  “Finish well” in two separate visions. In my heart, I believe He was alerting me that the finish line for a particular assignment is right before me and that I was to ready my myself and my surroundings even more.

I realize I’m not alone because many of you are also going through big transitions.

When we’ve waited a long time, it’s easy to get a bit relaxed in our least favorite tasks. But in His mercy and grace, God has a way of being clear and definitive toward the end of a thing to refine us in diligence so we can finish strong.

He doesn’t want us to miss His better assignments forward. He ignites fresh resolve in His beloved and supplies a renewed synergy. He infuses us with His strength, while diffusing enemy resistance as we obey.

With so much to do, we can still determine to reprioritize and engage to meet Holy Spirit in the final push. Even if it looks impossible in the time we have remaining, we can still believe God and work diligently to posture ourselves in readiness. Because, oftentimes, it won’t take as long we think, especially with God on our side.

Readiness

Readiness has a lot to do with attitude and forward thinking (Vine’s dictionary).

Dictionary.com defines readiness as “a developmental stage at which a child has the capacity to receive instruction at a given level of difficulty or to engage in a particular activity.”

As children of God, we understand this.

According to Holy Scripture, readiness can be preparation in past tense. It reflects a state of steadfastness and guardedness while waiting for God’s next action step or sudden move (Ac 23:21, Jo 8:4). Sometimes, this can involve monumental shifts.

Luke 12:35 TPT says, "Be prepared for action at a moment’s notice." And verse 40 says, "So keep being alert and ready at all times."

So, readiness demands the consistency of an alert and willing mind, an eager heart and obedient effort. It demands preparedness in anticipation of Jesus and His move toward us. It demands that we be fit for His favorable, life-changing directions and opportune times in which He leads.

In fact, one of the biblical definitions of readiness is “opportune“ (Strong’s 2092).

Have you ever heard anyone say success happens when preparation meets opportunity?

This adage implies that a lot of corresponding work has been done in advance for God’s right time. When God suddenly opens the door, we’ll know how to put His strategy into place and run with Him.

In this way, God makes us like Joshua, who received unique commands before each battle.

We can be disciplined, armored up and battle ready. We can be willing to move out swiftly on command, able to fight the good fight all the way to manifest victory as we consistently yield to God for His greater purposes.

God’s Desire

God’s desire for us is to re-turn to new life and take dominion for eternal value and Kingdom expansion. And it’s not too late. So, don’t give up. Don’t back down. Stay the course.

And if we mess up, we can repent and bounce back. If we need to rest, we can do so. Then get back in the race. Gear up and go for it. Don’t rest too long because “better” awaits.

We’ll prevail one battle after the next because God is in it and is favoring us to win. He made us victorious from the outset. So, trust Him and follow His lead to build success.

Remember, God has angel armies at work on your behalf, and He’ll position you with others, who are aligned with Him, to also help you.

Remember Your Role

Your role is key to express the heart of God on the earth.

As God helps you cultivate readiness, remember that you’re not alone. On the other side are those He has made ready, too.

There will be renewal, restoration, rewards and gifts—spiritual and otherwise. Abundance. It’ll all be worth it when you reach your finish line in ready position to begin anew.

You’ve been transformed and you’re coming out. So, be ready for God to present the best version of you.

Let go of what’s past. Surrender all. Fix your eyes on Jesus in the tasks. Remain focused and pay no attention to the lies of fools, including the spirit of fear. God is fighting for you.

In Jesus’ Mighty Name,

Amen.
