There's a fantastic bit about Jesus in the New Testament. This is what it says:
He is the reflection of God's glory and the exact imprint of God's very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word.
The picture here is of a coin being produced with a die - and each coin is punched out exactly the same - the die comes down on the face of the coin and produces the exact same image.
The image of God deep graven in the flesh, as Martin Luther put it.
Life gets so mundane, so every day. You and I - we need the glory of God shining in our lives. We need the image of God before us. We need Jesus with us every step of the way.
That's why I regularly re-read one of the Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke or John - to make sure I know Him. And that's when I rediscover this truth that Jesus really does sustain all things, everything in my life, by His Powerful Word.
