URGENT: You Can Help Hurricane Florence Victims, Here's How...

A Different Perspective - November 23

Good Friends Bad Friends
by Berni Dymet

Prov. 1:10-16 My child, if sinners entice you, do not consent. If they say, "Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood … my child, do not walk in their way, keep your foot from their paths; for their feet run to evil, and they hurry to shed blood.

When I was young, I remember my mother saying to me over and over again - "Berni, don't get in with the wrong crowd". Well - you know the teenager's response to that - like every other teenager before me I rolled my eyes in the back of my head.

But here's something that'll blow you away.

The Old Testament Book of Proverbs is a record of King Solomon's wisdom spoken to his sons. And - now get this - after a few verses on our relationship with God and the importance of wisdom, the very next thing he talks about, right up there in Chapter One - is telling his lads … don't get in with the wrong crowd.

The point he makes is this: that the wrong crowd will lead us in the wrong direction and that - that's going to cause us a lot of pain.

So here we have, in God's Book the Bible, one of the wisest men who ever walked the earth, King Solomon.

One of the very first pieces of Wisdom he wants to share with his lads is this - "Don't get in with the wrong crowd.

Hmm - maybe my mother knew what she was talking about after all.
