Psalm 138 New International Version

Thanksgiving for the LORD's Favor

138 1 I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; before the "gods" I will sing your praise. 2 I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame. 3 When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me. 4 May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord, when they hear what you have decreed. 5 May they sing of the ways of the Lord, for the glory of the Lord is great.

6 Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly; though lofty, he sees them from afar. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me. 8 The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever- do not abandon the works of your hands.

Psalm 138 New American Standard Bible

138 1 I will give You thanks with all my heart ; I will sing praises to You before the gods . 2 I will bow down toward Your holy temple And give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth ; For You have magnified Your word according to all Your name . 3 On the day I called , You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul . 4 All the kings of the earth will give thanks to You, O Lord , When they have heard the words of Your mouth . 5 And they will sing of the ways of the Lord , For great is the glory of the Lord .

6 For though the Lord is exalted , Yet He regards the lowly , But the haughty He knows from afar . 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble , You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies , And Your right hand will save me. 8 The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness , O Lord , is everlasting ; Do not forsake the works of Your hands .

Thanksgiving for the LORD's Favor

138 1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee. 2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. 3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. 4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, when they hear the words of thy mouth. 5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the Lord: for great is the glory of the Lord.

6 Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. 8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

Psalm 138 New Living Translation

Thanksgiving for the LORD's Favor

138 1 I give you thanks, O Lord, with all my heart; I will sing your praises before the gods. 2 I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name. 3 As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength. 4 Every king in all the earth will thank you, Lord, for all of them will hear your words. 5 Yes, they will sing about the Lord 's ways, for the glory of the Lord is very great.

6 Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud. 7 Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me. 8 The Lord will work out his plans for my life- for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me.
