God’s Timeless Word
Ezekiel 39:21 (NIV®)
“I will display my glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the punishment I inflict and the hand I lay on them.”
We hear a lot of talk about globalization and how we no longer live in isolation. We drink our morning coffee while we watch events unfold in Europe and the Middle East and hear how trading in the Asian markets will affect us. We act as if this is something new, but Ezekiel—a near Eastern, Hebrew prophet who lived about five centuries before the birth of Jesus—is relaying a message from God about all the nations of the world having a common experience. And he’s describing the season in which you and I live. Don’t ever be embarrassed because you believe the Word of God. It teaches us that God had a plan for the world long before the recent discussions of globalization, and He is working it out moment by moment.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for Your Word. I do not consider it antiquated but relevant to my life today. Give me a hunger and thirst for Your Word and the truth it brings to our lives. May it help me in every season. In Jesus’ name, amen.
