Parenting by Design - April 2

Angels are often overlooked in today's world, yet God has provided them to serve and protect us. From appearances in the Bible to their role in interceding on our behalf, understanding the presence of angels in our lives can bring immense comfort and encouragement.

Angels

Heb. 1:14: Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? (NIV)

In a world that values things it can see and touch, it is easy to overlook the fact that God has provided angels for our protection. While we may not recognize them, they are there. There are plenty of examples of appearances of angels in the Bible: Daniel in the lion's den (Dan. 6:22), Jesus in the wilderness (Mark 1:12-13), Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:43), and Paul on board a ship in a storm (Acts 27:23).

We are told that the angels in heaven rejoice when a sinner is converted (Luke 15:7, 10). We are even told that our children have angels in heaven that see the face of God (Matt. 18:10). What a huge encouragement for parents!

One day in heaven we will learn of the things angels have done for our families, but until then, we can trust that they are interceding on our behalf.
