¹⁹ It came about that just as it grew dark at the gates of Jerusalem before the sabbath , I commanded that the doors should be shut and that they should not open them until after the sabbath . Then I stationed some of my servants at the gates so that no load would enter on the sabbath day .

¹⁹ And so, when the streets of Jerusalem were getting dark before the Sabbath, I gave orders for the doors to be shut and not to be open again till after the Sabbath: and I put some of my servants by the door so that nothing might be taken in on the Sabbath day.

¹⁹ When evening shadows fell on the gates of Jerusalem before the Sabbath, I ordered the doors to be shut and not opened until the Sabbath was over. I stationed some of my own men at the gates so that no load could be brought in on the Sabbath day.
