Providence vs. Creating Your Destiny: Chapter 16

Today’s Reading is Proverbs Chapter 16

We see 2 times (verse 9 & 33) in this chapter that God has a plan for our lives. Even though it doesn’t make sense, God is the one who is in control. We should take great comfort in that fact because it means that we don’t have to put so much pressure on ourselves to perform.

Some spiritual leaders tell us to follow our heart. Others encourage us to ask for what we want and, if we have enough faith, we will have it. But from what I see in the Bible, the reoccurring theme is trusting God despite ones situation… being satisfied with what we have… keeping our hearts pure… living peaceably with others… staying humble… trusting God to be… our… GOD.

If you think about it that makes our part of the relationship rather simple. I mean, it takes a whole lot of faith to do that most of the time. Sometimes, that means choosing things that are unattractive instead of things that appeal to us. On the other hand, sometimes it means we get to sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

It’s in God’s timing…
