Wisdom from the Psalms 9/27

September 27

Psalm 119:29
Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.

It started with a few small fibs. Then a lie or two to take the heat off. Before long, Ralph had dug himself a hole he couldn't climb out of. Too many false stories had slipped from his mouth, and his friends were beginning to distrust him. He wasn't really a dishonest person, but a few lies had made him appear to be one.

Truth has no hidden traps in it. When we live in truth, we live above reproach. When we lie, even a little bit, we open ourselves to problems that are unnecessary. Walk in the ways of God, always holding to the truth, and when you will find that there is nothing to fear.

Prayer: Lord, remove any lie or deceit from my mouth. Let truth and tact rule my words. If I find no truth within me to share, then let me keep silent. Amen.
