Travel can be very exciting, and it is great to see new places. But when it comes to finding friends and fellowship, it can be a very lonely business.

Troubles on the road
Read 2 Corinthians 2 v 12-13

• What was Paul doing in Troas (v 12)?
• What was good about Paul’s time in Troas (v 12)?
• What was the problem (v 13)?

It’s worth remembering where all these places that Paul mentions are! Troas is in modern-day Turkey, across the Aegean
Sea from Greece. Macedonia was across the Aegean sea from Troas, and includes parts of modern-day Greece, and was the province north of Achaia—which is where Corinth was, and where Paul was going.

Tales from abroad
Read 2 Corinthians 7 v 5-7

• According to these verses, why was Paul so keen to meet up with Titus?
• What caused Paul “joy [which] was greater than ever” (v 7)?
• Putting these two passages together, what have we discovered about Paul’s attitude to the churches he founded?
• Think through what you have read about Paul so far in this letter. Make a list of words you would use to describe his character.

..........................................
APPLY
Paul had told this church to “follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11 v 1).
• Do you love fellow Christians as Paul did? Do you know the same joy at Christians continuing in the faith as he did?
• What is one change of attitude, and one change of action, that would enable you to follow Paul’s example more closely in your life.
..........................................
PRAY THRU
Give thanks for those who love you enough to find out how you’re doing in your Christian life, and enough to encourage and challenge you.
Pray that God would give you the ability and opportunity to follow Paul’s example in the ways you identified above.
