The world and the word (Psalm 145)

Before we read this terrific little psalm, think of five things that your non- Christian friends might say about God (He
doesn’t exist, He’s out of touch, etc)…

Excited…
Read Psalms 145:1

• What specific things is David excited about?
• Which one strikes you the most?

…about God…
Read Psalms 145:8

• How is God described here?
• In what ways is He involved in the world?

David spoke from his own experience. Christians nowadays should be able to say that they too have experienced the truths here.

• Can you think of examples for yourself of the truths in v 8, 13b, 14, 16?

…who is both great and near…
Read Psalms 145:17

• What encouragements are there here?
• And what warnings?

…so we should…

• Now notice all the responses that David says we, and others, should be making to this great God (v 1-8)...

All those responses have to do with communication... talking to God and to others about how great He is.

…and also…

Now back (finally) to your friends’ views.

• How would you answer each point they have made?
• Why is it so important that you do (v 20)?

...........................
PRAY THRU
The first step is to get praying: for your friends, and for your own knowledge of God and enthusiasm for Him. And pray for opportunities to share with them how great God is.
