Picture of Contrasts

Today's reading: 1 Samuel 23:15-29

As we close out 1 Samuel chapter 23, we're presented with a picture of contrasts between Saul and his son Jonathan when it comes to their hearts and attitudes. Saul is still self-consumed and obsessed with killing David, while Jonathan's focus is on God and His plan for David as the next king of Israel. What an example Jonathan provides for us. In the middle of the chaos being created by Saul, he breaks away and seeks out David to give him needed spiritual encouragement and support during what was undoubtedly a low and challenging time in David's life.

How important is it to have a "Jonathan" in our lives to walk with, and encourage us, spiritually? To whom, and how, can you be a "Jonathan" this week? Tami
