Stop Sharing Slander
By: Rick Boxx
September 7, 2013

Jim had just hired a person with whom I had some previous experience. Unfortunately, this occurrence had not been a positive one. I did have some hope, however, through some subsequent observations, that this person had matured more in his faith.

When Jim said, “Well…what do you think?” part of me wanted to share my previous experience and, my reservations, but then, I remembered a pertinent Bible verse.

Proverbs 30:10 says, “Do not slander a servant to his master, or he will curse you, and you will pay for it.”

I bit my tongue, and chose to give Jim’s new hire, the benefit of the doubt. I shared with Jim some positive observations about his new hire, rather than the negative. Sometimes the whole story is unnecessary to share.
