I'm Here to Help

President Ronald Reagan once said, “The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” If you’ve ever been entangled in government bureaucracy, or been tormented by the IRS or government regulators, you certainly understand what he meant.

Yet, as people trying to do business God’s way, we’re called to be accountable to the government and to recognize them as God’s tool for justice.

In Romans 13:1 the Apostle Paul teaches, “Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.”

In America’s republic form of government we have the ability to criticize and change the government’s actions, but we’re still called to respect and obey our authorities.
