A Velcro Love

“Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her.” Ruth 1:14

THINK

The book of Ruth is perhaps the greatest love story ever written. On the surface, that idea of love is easy to see in the “happily ever after” ending with Ruth and Boaz. But the love is prevalent throughout every other aspect of the book as well.

In today’s verse, Ruth displays the kind of love that moves beyond emotions. The Bible says that Ruth “clung” to Naomi. In spite of what it cost her, Ruth displayed a loyal love, a committed love, a lasting love. That love is known as hesed. Hesed is like Velcro. Remember, love isn’t just romantic love; it’s something that sticks through everything.

PRAY

Thank God for His unending, Velcro-like love for us; a love that sticks through everything. Pray that you have the strength to display that love to those in your life as well.

ACT

Find a strip of Velcro somewhere in your house. Carry it with you throughout the rest of this week as a reminder of the love God has for you. When someone asks you about it, share His message off love with them!
