Ed Young Television Devotional

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.” James 1:22

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to have A.D.D. Our attention is pulled in so many directions all the time. But there’s another deficit disorder that many people struggle with. It’s I.D.D. – intention deficit disorder!

So many of us think that because we are “hearing,” we are also “listening”.  But the reality is that listening requires acting on what we hear. It doesn’t matter what we intend to do. Unless we follow it up with action, we can easily find ourselves away from where God wants us to be. And we’ll end up asking, “How did I get here?” The great thing is that God is a God of re-directing.    God isn’t concerned with your misstep; He’s concerned with your next step! So make sure you next step is one of action, not just intention!

Pray for God to help you apply what He has taught you. Pray for discipline to listen to, trust and obey His voice. Ask Him what your next step needs to be.

One of the fastest and surest ways to discover God’s plan for your life is to begin using your gifts, talents, and abilities in the local church. If you are not already serving, Fellowship Church has so many opportunities for you to discover this next step in the right direction!
