Who Are You?
So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. >Ruth 1:13
The story of Ruth features t four main characters – Boaz, Ruth, Naomi, and Orpah. Each of these characters plays a very distinct, yet very different role. And each of them is a mirror that reflects the reality of who we are as well.
Boaz is the faithful, godly person who is focused on doing life God’s way. Naomi represents the person who has a relationship with God, but who has walked away for a season, only to realize it’s time to come home. Ruth represents the person who has seen a godly example in someone else and who has made the decision to follow that lead. And Orpah is the one who took a few steps toward a life with God, but in the end decided to go back to their own way, ending up in obscurity.
As you reflect on this powerful love story, ask yourself which character is reflective of your own life.
Pray for God’s wisdom and love to direct you as you establish, maintain, and focus on a relationship with Him. Pray for the opportunity to show others what that relationship can mean in their own lives as well.
Read the book of Ruth and see how each of these four characters acted and reacted as they were encountered by love. Take some time to seriously consider which of these characters best represents you.
