Is God Deaf?

by Berni Dymet

Psa. 116:1,2  I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.  Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

As I look back over the last decade and a half of my life – the time that I’ve been walking with God instead of away from Him – I remember some times when I felt like, well, to be honest, it felt like God was deaf.

I can remember one particularly painful time in my life when I cried out to God – and as I cupped my hand to my ear and strained to hear His reply, all I could hear was the sound of the crickets out in the dark night.

But as each of God’s apparent deaf spots have played themselves out in my life – without exception – He’s come up with a different tack, a different idea, a different plan – things that I wouldn’t have thought of in my wildest dreams.

And these days, when God appears to be having a “deaf day”, I press deeper into Him.  Because in my heart of hearts I know sometimes … I know that He has a much, much better plan.
