Businesses are often so driven by the bottom line that they are reluctant to increase payroll costs. This over-emphasis on the bottom line can cause discontent in lower paid workers, like we’ve witnessed on the news this last year.
If business leaders viewed their employees as their “business family,” whom God has called for them to shepherd, they would be more likely to compensate generously. This would likely result in improved productivity and profitability!
1 Peter 5 teaches, “Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge...”
If you desire a harmonious and profitable workplace, consider being a shepherd, not a tyrant.
