Silent for Us

>Mark 15:4,5 Pilate asked him again, "Have you no answer? See how many charges they bring against you. But Jesus made no further reply, so that Pilate was amazed.
When someone accuses us of doing something that we didn't do - I guess our natural response is to defend ourselves. To prove our innocence.
But Jesus stood, when He stood before Pontius Pilot - accused of all sorts of things that He didn't do, said … nothing. Absolutely nothing. I mean, He was facing a brutal death. Yet He didn't defend Himself.
Why? What was He hiding?
When Jesus stood before Pilot, He was actually standing trial in a different court. He was standing trial in the only court that mattered - the court of God's justice. And He was there on behalf of you and me.
And He didn't say anything because He was carrying my sin and your sin on His shoulders. As He stood there on trial before God His Father He knew why He was there. And He knew that there simply wasn't a defence. He was silent for you and for me.
They tried Him. They flogged Him. They nailed Him to a cross.
My cross. Your cross.
