“But Paul said to them, ‘They have beaten us in public without trial, men who are Romans, and have thrown us into prison; and now are they sending us away secretly? No indeed! But let them come themselves and bring us out.’” (Acts 16:37)
This is exactly the way the world would like to treat us. Beat us, imprison us, abuse us, and then tell us to run along quietly. I like Paul's answer—No indeed!
I might have reasoned that I could do more work in other places if I just went away quietly. In actuality, such a chicken-livered approach would have put the spread of the gospel in jeopardy. When Christians cower in fear, they allow Satan's emissaries to rule the day. When Christians talk loudly about their treatment, and use every means available to put light to the public, then the enemies of the cross will at least think twice before abusing believers and their natural rights.
God has not given us a spirit of timidity. Let's join together to call a spade a spade!
